Sekisui House is evolving housing design in the western corridor by putting sustainable living within reach of more home buyers with the launch of its energy efficient MIRAI Homes collection in Ecco Ripley.
Priced from $481,000 including land, the premium, low-maintenance range of four-bedroom homes have been developed with careful active and passive design considerations, featuring low maintenance finishes, a unique wall system and solar panel system — reflecting the developer’s key design principles of health and wellbeing, intuitive design and energy efficiency.
The unique wall system features a nano-hydrophilic, self-cleaning coating which repels heat, and sheds dust and grime with a light shower of rain. Air tightness is also a key aspect of the wall system, with a comparable brick veneer home having an effective air leakage area equivalent to approximately one open window. Independent testing* has identified that the air leakage area of a MIRAI Home is up to 51% less, contributing to not only better energy efficiency but also thermal comfort, acoustics and controllable ventilation.
The homes have achieved NatHERS star ratings between 6.9 and 7.5 (exceeding that of the average dwelling), featuring multiple insulation layers and waterproofing which allow them to breathe and maintain stable, year-round comfort, a roof ventilation system that replaces hot air with ambient outside temperature, and a 6.5kW solar panel system. Compared to a benchmark 6-star home under the NatHERS rating, the MIRAI Homes achieved a nearly 33% reduction to adjusted heating and cooling loads for the same climate zone.

Queensland State Sales Manager Scott Blaney said the intent of a MIRAI Home is to make life at home as comfortable and as easy as possible.
“Sekisui House has taken the time to understand how families’ at all different life stages work, move, play, relax and entertain in their homes to ensure an overall sense of comfort and ergonomic harmony, this is reflected in the floor plan design, orientation, the careful selection of fixtures and fittings, and the self-cleaning cavity wall system,” said Mr Blaney.
“The unique exterior cladding, for example, not only creates an appealing street presence but it’s advanced cavity wall system promotes airflow, manages condensation levels, and reduces air leakage to help provide a cooling effect during hot days.
“The self-cleaning coating further repels heat. A light shower of rain can clean the house of built-up dirt and pollution,” Mr Blaney said.
MIRAI Homes also include important features to support health and wellbeing such as water filters, video intercom and entrance sensors light for safety, and low Volatile Organic Compound paints.
Sekisui House has completed three MIRAI Homes, each with four bedrooms on lots ranging from 375 to 450 square metres. One home features a discovery centre, allowing buyers to explore and learn more about the home’s unique features.
The MIRAI Homes form part of Sekisui House’s $500 million Ecco Ripley master planned community and investment in Queensland’s booming western growth corridor.

Air Tightness & Draft Control
A comparable brick veneer home has an effective air leakage area equivalent to approximately one open window, measuring 400mm x 500mm. Independent testing has identified that the air leakage area of a MIRAI Home is significantly less, in fact, up to 51%.
MIRAI Homes have been independently measured to be over 3dB quieter (on average) than a comparable brick veneer home when exposed to similar external noises, which is equivalent to increasing the distance between yourself and the noise source by 75%. Compared to conventionally built Australian project homes, the MIRAI Homes construction system includes higher levels of insulation to reduce noise transmission and excessive air leakage paths where noise may penetrate.
Air leakage plays a significant role in noise reduction. When air leaks are present within a home, noise leakage (flanking) will occur, resulting in reduced acoustic performance of that construction (Source: M.
